This IWD, We Choose To Challenge
Happy International Women’s Day from our community of leaders and learners committed to championing opportunity and sustainability!
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also a call-to-action for accelerating women’s equality.
At Davis College and Akilah, this day of celebration and action resonates strongly with our community’s shared values, as well as our philosophical approach to education, which is to empower women while uplifting men through a gender responsive pedagogy.
While we make sure to celebrate women’s successes and challenge biases all year long, IWD provides a powerful platform to engage in a global discussion and reaffirm our commitment to forging a gender equal world.
So to mark IWD on March 8 this year, we asked our community how they will #ChooseToChallenge and take action for equality — here’s a selection from our current staff and students:
To join our community and show your support for IWD too, we invite you to:

“A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So let’s all choose to challenge.”
