Together, we can #BreakTheBias this IWD
Happy International Women’s Day!
Today, we are joining millions around the world to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness against bias, and collectively take action for equality.
This day resonates strongly with our values, given our proud Akilah heritage as Rwanda’s first all-female college. In 2020, we expanded access to young men by rebranding as the co-ed Davis College, because we saw an opportunity to develop male role models and advocates, further break down barriers that discriminate against women, and build a global community of lifelong learners of young women and men who think critically about how to create a more diverse, sustainable world.
Davis College’s gender inclusive campus has an intentional focus on women’s leadership as a key tenet of our competency-based curriculum across all academic programs. Faculty and student sensitization on gender balanced classrooms and co-curriculars, and bringing men in as allies, grounds our learning community and culture.
Our commitment to women’s education and economic empowerment hasn’t wavered. In fact, it’s at the heart of what we’re doing at Davis College. Why? Because when women are educated and earn incomes — families and communities benefit. Whole societies benefit.
Together, we can forge a gender equal world.
Together, we can all #BreakTheBias - on International Women's Day and beyond.
