Welcome back to campus!

After seven months of distance learning, we welcomed our students and teachers back to our adapted campus.

Over the last seven months, we have been so grateful for the extraordinary leadership of the Government of Rwanda, and the swift and decisive action to contain the coronavirus. And because we had spent years investing in the infrastructure, technology, faculty development, and curriculum for blended (a mix of face-to-face instruction and online coursework) and virtual learning, we were prepared to launch classes virtually while our campus remain closed.

But we have been so eager to return to campus, and we are thrilled that the Ministry of Education completed its thorough inspections of our campus and approved our re-opening on October 26th!

From physical distancing measures to new hand-washing stations, our campus has been adapted to ensure the health and safety of our community. We will continue to follow the guidelines from the Government to maintain the highest health standards.

Our COVID prevention policies are also not the only change on campus. In addition to welcoming back our Akilah Institute students, we have officially welcomed our first co-ed class of Davis College students to campus, who started their classes from home in August. Our students are pioneers in an experimental year as we expand access to male students at Davis College, while Akilah remains a unique environment for female leaders.

While keeping us safe, social distancing policies have not dampened our community’s joy at being reunited on campus, and we are so grateful to everyone who has helped us safely reopen our campus!
