By not being afraid to ask for help, says Divine.

After introducing herself to Davis College and Akilah CEO & Co-Founder Elizabeth Dearborn Hughes, Divine shared her idea for Sharama. Like Elizabeth, Divine had been discouraged from starting her own venture — largely because of her young age and gender.

The two began corresponding regularly, Elizabeth sharing advice and mentorship and encouraging Divine not to give up on her entrepreneurial dreams. Divine says that Elizabeth’s positivity, encouragement, and mentorship was a critical component to Sharama’s early success.

Having now built Sharama into a thriving business, Divine has a bold vision to break down outdated stereotypes about the tourism industry in the region.
