To the Class of 2022

We’re looking forward to meeting our incoming class, and sharing important information regarding the upcoming school year.

We are so excited to meet you soon, Class of 2022! While Akilah will remain a unique all women’s environment, we are proud to officially launch Davis College with our first intake of male and female students. Although it’s an uncertain time globally, our team is working hard to plan accordingly and minimize disruption to your studies. Our commitment to your education and professional development is unwavering.

The Government of Rwanda has done an extraordinary job of containing the pandemic and prioritizing the health of all citizens. Like every country in the world, difficult decisions must be made about the right policies and timing for re-opening schools. While we are eager to return to campus, we are also prepared to launch classes virtually rather than delay your studies. We have spent years investing in the infrastructure, technology, faculty development, and curriculum for blended (a mix of face-to-face instruction and online coursework) and virtual learning. We are confident that you will have a transformational learning experience with your instructor and classmates in a virtual environment. All students must have a tech device and internet connection in order to begin Bridge classes virtually in July. For those students who do not have a tech device, we are excited to welcome you onto our campus once we re-open! At that time, you will have the option to purchase a tech device through us. So, do not worry if you cannot start with the virtual learners in July — we will see you soon on campus!

You will soon receive more information regarding what you can expect plus the Student Handbook, final Enrollment forms, and an invitation to a Virtual Parents/Guardians Briefing Meeting.

Chancen International Income Share Agreements

Unfortunately, our partner, Chancen International, will not be able to offer Income Share Agreements (ISAs) now to the Class of 2022.

Due to the global pandemic, Chancen’s funders have been forced to respond to emergency situations in the health sector, and thus funding for education has been temporarily paused. They hope to be able to offer new ISA opportunities soon, and will communicate updates as the situation improves. Read the full announcement from Chancen here.

We understand that this is disappointing news for students who wished to receive this support. We are eager to discuss flexible tuition fees payment plans and to work with you to ensure your timely enrollment.

As always, every accepted student automatically receives significant scholarship support. Tuition only covers 30 – 40% of the cost of your education and the remainder is funded by our generous global donor community.

A member of our Admissions team will contact you directly before April 30th. Please keep your phones on!
