During orientation, approximately 160 Evening & Weekend Program students and 240 Daytime Program students met each other and their instructors for the first time. They learned about their respective diploma programs and heard from current Akilah students on how to prepare for the next two years.

“You will go further than you ever thought you could — believe me. Just work hard, stay focused, and enjoy your time here. Then Akilah can take you so far,” said former Guild President Sonia Rugwiro, who will graduate from Information Systems in November, to the group of fresh Evening & Weekend students.

“The orientation has been really fun and interesting,” according to new Akilah students Liliane Uwizeramariya and Nema Mukeshimana. “We have already made new friends and learned so much about what will happen during our time at Akilah that we didn’t know before. We are very happy!”

Akilah welcomed its largest class to date.

All new students will start Akilah’s Bridge Program this month. The program offers intensive instruction in English, leadership, and math before students dive into their diploma programs in September.

A big welcome to all our new students!
