Akilah Opens Its Doors to Prospective Students
On March 30, potential new students and their families had the opportunity to explore campus, meet faculty and staff, and learn more about what it means to be an Akilah student during our Open House.

These are exciting days at Akilah. In July, will welcome 400 new students for our diploma programs in Information Systems, Business Management and Entrepreneurship, and Hospitality Management. We will also launch our Evening & Weekend Program for working professionals.
Prospective students learn about academic and campus life.
During the Akilah Open House, current students welcomed potential students and curious guests with guided campus tours and presentations of programs, projects, and student clubs. Visitors learned about app development, business incubation, customer care, social change projects, gender awareness, and Akilah’s Writing Lab.
Aline Uwamahoro, who just finished her studies at Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village, has already been accepted to Akilah’s Information Systems Program. She came to Akilah’s Open House to learn more about campus life both within and outside the classroom.
Aline has already been accepted to Akilah’s Evening & Weekend Program.
“I met with some Information Systems students, and they showed me an app they had developed in class that helps you to learn new English words through voice recording. I loved that!” she said.
“I visited the library too, where they presented the Writing Lab. I really like the way Akilah follows up with their students. If someone is not strong in writing, the Writing Lab works with you to improve your skills. I also love how all the students express themselves here — they are very good at English,” she added.
Aline applied for Akilah’s Information Systems Diploma because she loves science, especially computer science. “It was my best subject in high school, and I really want to develop my skills in technology,” she explained.
The Evening & Weekend Program worked best with Aline’s schedule. “I have a job at a hotel, and I have siblings to take care of. So for me it is really good to be able to study in the evenings and on weekends so I can maintain my job during the day.”
We can’t wait to welcome Aline Uwamahoro and 399 other new students in July!
Applications are still open for Akilah’s Day Program and Evening & Weekend Program. Learn more and apply at www.akilahinstitute.org/apply.
